We're delighted to announce that Sally-Jo Wilkinson has been appointed our founding headteacher.
Sally-Jo will join our school from Kingswinford Academy, where she was Deputy Headteacher. In this role, she has raised standards and provided outstanding opportunities for students.
Sally-Jo will bring the same determination and commitment to her role as headteacher, ensuring every child unlocks their academic and personal potential.
Sally-Jo has a wealth of experience working with schools across the Midlands. She worked as Assistant Headteacher at Windsor High School and Sixth Form, and with the leadership team at Great Wyrley Academy.
She was inspired to enter a career in teaching by her memories of her own teachers, who supported her to reach her potential.
Before starting as a teacher, she gained a BSc in Sports Science with Business Management and a PGCE at Cheltenham and Gloucester University. She is currently studying for her Master’s in Educational Leadership at University of Birmingham.
The local community have played a significant role in supporting and championing the opening of our new school. This has included being part of the headteacher recruitment process.
As part of the process, Sally-Jo spent a day in the community meeting with parents, children, school leaders and Newbigin Community Trust.
Sally-Jo plans to build an inspiring environment where students learn and thrive. A core part of this will be providing every child with the best opportunities in the classroom and beyond.
Supported by Windsor Academy Trust, Sally-Jo’s vision is to create an inclusive school with a culture of happiness, diversity and ambition at its heart. Children will be inspired to follow their passions and sport and the arts will be an integral part of school life.
Our school will also lead the way for innovation and digital learning. Students will use the latest technology and be provided with an iPad to enhance their learning.
Speaking on her appointment, a delighted Sally-Jo said:
“With the full support of those in the local area, I’m certain that Windsor Olympus Academy will be a school at the very heart of its community. Our education will be delivered by inspiring teachers who will raise aspirations and help each student achieve their potential.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming and guiding children through this exciting journey. I’m focused on ensuring they gain the skills and knowledge to achieve anything they put their minds to.”
Dawn Haywood, CEO of Windsor Academy Trust, added:
“I'm delighted Sally-Jo Wilkinson will be bringing her incredible enthusiasm, passion and experience to Windsor Olympus Academy. Since joining the Trust in 2016, she has played a central role in raising standards in each school she has worked.
“Ahead of the new school opening, I look forward to working closely with Sally-Jo. The school will be a shining beacon of excellence where students unlock their academic and personal potential.”
